PhD position Germination niches of forest trees

Germination niches of forest trees as a precondition for restoration success

  • Location

INRAE BIOGECO Bordeaux

  • Mission

The main goal of this PhD is to explain next-generation species distribution ranges based on the adaptation and plasticity (Benito Garzón et al., 2019) of germination traits to climate change to build a new adaptation to climate change strategy based on early stages of trees and guide restoration programs. This will be achieved by setting up climatic chamber experiments emulating future climate conditions as those expected by the IPCC scenarios to monitor germination from seeds covering species’ distribution ranges to estimate the climatic niches of germination and ultimately propose those populations with higher potential to survive under climate change to new restoration programs.
