expert in sawing and valorization of RUBBER WOOD

Context

• SAPH, the leader in sustainable natural rubber in Africa, listed on the BRVM
• 23,000 plantations, 6 NR processing plants, 6,400 employees
• SAPH currently uses rubberwood from end-of-life plots mainly in the form of forest chips (energy wood) and wishes to engage in the construction of a sawn wood unit on its RAPIDES-GRAH site. (50 km north of San Pedro, annual capacity >30,000 m 3) for better recovery of its wood, initially in the form of pallets.

Mission proposed and profile sought

• Technical manager of the sawmill construction project then of the unit when it starts scheduled for Q2-2025
• Defines all the operational elements of the future sawmill: layout, equipment and suppliers, capacity and yields, energy needs and supply and valorization of by-products, standard of pallets to be produced, necessary personnel (recruitment and training), etc …
• Supports the construction, start-up and ramp-up of the sawmill (target 04-2025)
• In day-to-day operations: operational manager of the sawmill, in particular in charge of production, quality and maintenance. Support for extension and development studies.
• Confirmed technical and operational experience in the construction and management of an industrial sawmill. Specific knowledge of rubber wood, its strengths and constraints, would be an appreciated PLUS
• Leadership. Ability to evolve in a situation of autonomy and adaptation to the context of the Ivorian SW. At least basic knowledge of French is an essential requirement. English is a PLUS
• The unit must be exemplary: high attention to issues of respect for people and the environment is required.

Useful information

• Position based in Rapides-Grah, 50 km north of the town of San Pedro (Ivory Coast), after a 3-month start at the central office in Abidjan during the study phase.
• Permanent contract with 6 month trial period, start: Jan-2025
• Local contract with accommodation included. Remuneration to be discussed according to profile
