The Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources of the University of Freiburg

• Mission

-Developing a concept for setting up and establishing the XR Future Forests Lab at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources.
-Setting up the XR Future Forests Lab with responsibility for procuring the necessary technologies, hardware and software and ensuring smooth operation.
-Development of an XR-supported teaching/learning concept, especially for forest science teaching, and support of researchers in integrating XR technologies into their teaching activities.
-Initiation of research projects in the field of AR and VR.
-Establishment of a competent team of developers and researchers as well as its organizational management.
-Establishing a network with national and international partners to promote collaborations and projects and to position the XR Future Forests Lab in relevant communities

• Skills

-A degree in forestry, environmental sciences, information technology or a comparable qualification. A doctorate is an advantage.
-Profound knowledge in the digitization of research and teaching and modelling or willingness to become familiar with these topics.
-Profound knowledge of XR technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality is desirable.
-Ability to work in a structured, independent and solution-oriented manner.
-Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, good German skills are an advantage.
