The McWhorter School of Building Science at Auburn University seeks applications for a full-time, on-site, Visiting Assistant/Associate Research Professor primarily focused on research of mass timber and cross laminated timber (CLT) construction, with a secondary focus on wood-based prefabrication and off-site construction systems and techniques

Mission

The selected candidate will work closely with a team of mass timber design researchers within the College of Architecture, Design, and Construction (CADC). The appointment would include a limited teaching component, including the development of new courses related to mass timber. The candidate is also expected to establish active collaboration with researchers from the College of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering in order to pursue multi-disciplinary externally funded research grants. Several lab facilities and centers across campus may be available for research, including the Robins and Morton Construction Field Lab, the Auburn University Structural Testing Laboratory, and the Forest Products Development Center.

Skills

-A graduate degree in building construction, construction management, architecture, engineering, wood science, or an allied field; or a relevant undergraduate degree in these disciplines and a graduate degree giving evidence of potential research productivity in a field related to the position at the time employment begins.
-Professional and/or applied research experience in wood construction, CLT, and/or other mass timber products.
-Evidence of the capacity and potential to develop a successful, externally funded research program in the field of mass timber and CLT.
