  • Missions

As a Senior Scientist in forest management method diversification, you will examine current and emerging forest management and silvicultural practices and their impacts on forest regeneration, stand structure, and development dynamics. The research topics cover both rotation and continuous cover forestry. The position involves evaluating various aspects of sustainability, with a particular focus on the economics and technologies of silviculture. Key responsibilities include applying for national and international research funding, project management and reporting, scientific writing, effective stakeholder engagement, and transfer of research knowledge into practice. 

  • Skills

The position requires a doctoral degree in a relevant field and prior experience in researching rotation and continuous cover forestry methods used in the boreal zone, including research methodologies and scientific publishing. The applicant must demonstrate a strong track record in successfully applying for research funding and implementing research projects.
Excellent written and spoken English skills are essential.
Knowledge of forest growth modelling and simulation systems, as well as a deep understanding of the operational environment of boreal forest management, will support success in this role. Experience in conducting forest growth and yield studies is also considered an asset.
