12-Month Fully Funded Position

  • Location

LMGC  (Laboratory of Mechanics and Civil Engineering)
University of Montpellier

  • Missions

The proposed research project must fall within one of the following three areas:

-Secondary species or reclaimed wood mechanical characterisation and use (e.g., grading, material properties, structural applications, performance variability, non-destructive testing)

-Mass timber products manufacturing and characterisation (e.g., cross-laminated timber, glued-laminated timber, dowel-laminated timber, novel wood-based composites, production parameters, mechanical behaviour)

-Timber structural systems and assemblies behaviour (e.g., lateral-load resisting systems, hybrid timber-concrete/steel components, connection behaviour, structural robustness, seismic performance)

  • Skills

PhD in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, wood science, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the three research areas mentioned above
Scientific writing experience outside doctoral dissertation and proficiency in English (French is a plus but not required).

  • Application

Applications must include:

-A detailed research proposal (2 to max. 4 pages, excluding references) clearly indicating which thematic area it addresses, the scientific and/or industrial question(s), methodology, and expected outcomes.
-Curriculum vitae (including list of publications).
-A cover letter (max 2 pages) explaining the candidate’s interest and fit for the position. -Contact information for two academic referees.

If the proposal comes from another laboratory or a company, a contact by the partner before the submission is recommended.
