12th HARDWOOD

The 12th HARDWOOD CONFERENCE is 18-19 June 2026, as usual every two years in Sopron, Hungary.

The organizing committee of the 12th Hardwood Conference would be pleased to receive high quality abstracts on all subjects concerned with hardwoods. The conference will feature key-note speakers, technical and poster presentations on various topics with special emphasis on hardwoods, including:

  • Hardwood resources and assessment
  • Hardwood forest management: challenges and opportunities
  • Hardwood: stemwood characteristic, their manipulation and interrelation to wood properties
  • Hardwood structure and properties
  • Plantation wood
  • Regulation of Timber Trade
  • New aspects of the hardwood processing chain
  • Drying, modification & functionalization
  • Machining & Manufacturing
  • Durability, biodegradation and preservation
  • Hardwood in composites and engineered materials
  • New hardwood product approaches
  • Product design and marketing initiatives
  • Role and place of hardwoods in the circular economy

    Etc.

Deadline for abstract submission is 13 March 2026

Two full-paper publication options are open for the participants.

  • Option one is to publish in the Conference proceedings, which will be submitted for evaluation in the Web of Science database. Proceedings of 8-9-10-11th Hardwood Conferences are already accepted and indexed by the database. Please find more information at the conference website.

Submission deadline: 30 April 2026 

  • Option two for full paper publication is to publish in a Special Issue of the journal Forests (MDPI, Q1, IF: 2.5). APC has to be covered by the authors.
